Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Visualise yourself being in peaceful, tranquil surroundings such as the beach.
Concentrate on your breathing and slow it down to a 10-second cycle, six breaths a minute. Inhale for five seconds, then exhale for five seconds. Do this for about 2 to 5 minutes.
Focus on something peaceful and soothing in your environment. You may choose a flower, a colour or anything that soothes you.
