Researchers from the department of medicine at the University of Chicago studied the question, and reported their results in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences.

When they researched the effects of sleep deprivation in a group of healthy adults, they found that accumulated sleep debt - too many nights without enough sleep - was likely to lead to obesity, diabetes and hypertension, all of which are more common in people with low socio-economic status. People with more money, higher status and better health didn't necessarily get that way by working longer hours. They were the ones who got more sleep.
So set the alarm clock an hour later. Not only will you be healthier, it might even earn you a promotion.
