Five provinces in the Republic of Angola are being plagued by a new poliomyetis crisis, a report from the World Health Organisation confirmed.
The outbreak which has no particular treatment, was identified in the capital Luanda, the Bengo province, Benguela, Lunda sul, and in the southern province of Moxico.

This mild illness is extremely common in developing countries due to the poor sanitation and hygiene conditions. It can however be prevented by an immunisation campaign, where boosters and doses have to be given to those in the areas affected by the water viral infection (polio).
To suppress the outbreak in the region, the Health Ministry and the partners in the Polio Eradication in Angola, have called a Campaign for National Immunisation, which is set to be carried out in September this year.
The international community has been asked for financial support to eradicate this paralysing disease.
