Four new cases of poliomyelitis were confirmed in Indonesia earlier this month. The cases were in the districts of Bogor (west Java province) and Lebak (Banten province).
According to a World Health Organization report, these provinces had previously been infected by the outbreak, and were also included in the massive vaccination campaign that took place on the past 31 May, and on 28 June. Now, the provinces affected are West Java, Central Java, Lebak, Lampung and Jakarta.

Arrangements for a countrywide immunisation programme to control the spread of the disease, have been made for 30 August and 27 September. The programme aims to immunise more than 24.4 million children under the age of five.
In the meantime, the number of cases now stands at 225.
