By the time you hit fifty, you’re ageing. It’s undeniable. But while your skin is becoming thinner, losing elasticity, and becoming more susceptible to environmental changes, there’s no need to look old.

Your skin has been around for half a century now and it’s beginning to show. It’s beginning to sag, loosen and suffer from pigment changes. This is particularly true for women, whose bodies respond to menopause by producing less oestrogen.
The primary role of oestrogen in the skin is to keep the skin hydrated, supple and soft. When oestrogen levels drop, the skin loses elasticity and colour. It begins to sag and dry out. Other symptoms of menopause are enlarged pores and the growth of facial hair due to the presence of testosterone.
You can slow this process a little by having regular facial massages and facials, which will help increase blood circulation in the skin. Firming masks, mild exfoliation and hydrating treatments will help rejuvenate the skin.
The best way to slow down the ageing process is to avoid the sun – from an early age.
The use of products containing anti-ageing agents such as alfa-hydroxy acids, retinoids, antioxidants and humectants, might also slow down the process of skin ageing - some a bit more than others.
