If you think you might be at risk of a heart attack or stroke, ask your doctor whether you should be taking aspirin. He/she may suggest lifestyle changes and/or a daily aspirin – but only if there is nothing to suggest that you may suffer from the side effects of the drug. Aspirin should be taken on a full stomach at breakfast time. Also make sure you give up smoking, eat more healthily, do regular exercise and monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
