The three types of flu viruses

There are three types of influenza viruses, namely type A, B and C.

It is impossible to tell the difference between influenza A and B from the symptoms that you have, but influenza C causes a much milder illness resembling a cold.

It is important to note that one may be infected with influenza A, B and C in the same winter, or in successive winters, as these viruses differ significantly from one another.
