Eye - All about contact lenses
How can I check if my contact lens is inside out?
Created: Sunday, April 07, 2002

should appear bowl-shaped. If it’s inside out, it’ll look more like a saucer. If you’re myopic (one reason many people wear contacts in the first place), use this test instead:

  • Place the contact lens in the crease of your hand, making sure the hand is dry;
  • Gently fold your hand;
  • You should be able to see – and feel – that the edges of the lens point inwards, rather like a clam that’s closed, or a Mexican taco. If the edges face outwards, a bit like an inverted World War One helmet, the contact lens is inside out. Flip it over and insert it.
