20/20 Vision after laser surgery?
The results are excellent and usually by the next day you will notice a remarkable improvement in your natural (or uncorrected) vision.
Can contact lenses block UV light?
Although some manufacturers have added UV blocking properties to some lenses, none block all of the harmful UV light.
Can I wear disposable lenses longer?
Lenses should not be worn for longer than the recommended wearing period. This will prevent discomfort, dryness, blurred vision and allergic reactions.
Contact lenses after laser surgery?
Most patients do not require the contact lenses afterwards. Generally, if you were able to wear contact lenses prior to surgery, you will be able to wear them again after surgery.
Lenses - if eyes are bothering me?
It is not advisable to wear contact lenses if your eyes are bothering you, particularly if the discomfort is related to contact lens wear.
Contact lenses only occasionally?
Adapting to contact lens wear is more difficult when lenses are worn only occasionally. Generally, however, a soft (hydrophilic) lens is more appropriate for occasional wear.
Contact lenses and playing sport?
If your sport involves vigorous exercise, soft contact lenses are an appropriate choice. Your eye care practitioner can determine the best type of lenses based on your sport.
How often should contacts be changed?
The recommended life of contact lenses varies depending on the type of lenses, from 1-day, 1-week, 2-weeks, 1-month, and longer.
Laser eye surgery for over 50's?
Yes, but you will need reading glasses to see clearly up close. Your eyes will also be checked for cataracts, as cataract surgery can correct nearsightedness and farsighteness.
Surgery on both eyes the same day?
Most people choose to have surgery on both eyes on the same day because the surgery is very safe. Also the inconvenience of having the surgery and recovering only occurs once.
The long-term effects of laser surgery?
The data since 1987 has revealed that the eye heals well, and there is no indication that you need to be concerned about the long-term effects. However, the long-term effects are unknown.
When can I drive after laser surgery?
Your vision is usually clear enough to drive within one to three days after the procedure. However, you should not drive until you feel comfortable with your vision. Most people can return to work within two to four days
Which type of lens care system is best?
Recently, there has been a strong movement to "one-bottle" systems. However, if you are particularly sensitive to chemicals, it may be better to use a hydrogen peroxide system.
Can contacts be blinked out?
With normal use, contact lenses will stay firmly in position. However, they can come out under certain conditions.
Can vision be worse after laser eye surgery?
In very rare cases, yes. In order for vision to turn out worse than it was before the surgery, a significant complication would need to arise, which is rare.

Presbyopia as a vision condition in which the eye cannot focus on near objects. Reading glasses or bifocal glasses are often prescribed, but contact lenses can be prescribed also.

The low humidity in aircraft cabins contributes to dry eye symptoms and contact lens discomfort.

Tinted lenses are available to enhance or change eye colour.
How long can you store contact lenses?
This varies according to the cleaning and disinfection routine that you use before storing the lens. For specific details consult the package insert of your lens care system.
Is laser eye surgery painful?
The laser procedure itself does not hurt. For approximately one to three days after the procedure, you will feel minimal to moderate discomfort depending on whether you have PRK or LASIK.
Tablets for contact lenses?
The need to use protein remover tablets depends on the amount of protein deposits your eyes produce and how often you replace your lenses.
Is it OK to swim while wearing contact lenses?
Only if you're wearing goggles with a firm seal. If you don't wear goggles, the contact lenses may float from your eyes and/or absorb the pool water.
What are contact lenses made of?
Contact lenses are made from a number of different materials called polymers. Polymers ensure comfort by maintaining their shape on the eye and allowing the eye to breathe.
