Pillboxes with compartments for every day of the week can be very useful, especially if you are forgetful and don't always know whether you have already taken your medication or not.

It is important to keep the tablets away from heat and moisture, as this could affect their efficacy.

Do not ever use someone else's medicine. Even if people have the same disease and the same symptoms, they can react very differently to medication. Always consult your doctor if you feel that medication is not working for you or not agreeing with you.

Check the date on which your medication is likely to run out. Make a note in your diary about when to reorder, so that you do not unexpectedly run out.

Keep your medication in clearly marked containers. The containers should preferably not be the same colour, so that they cannot easily be confused.

If you are on oxygen, make absolutely sure you know exactly how to use the equipment. Ask for a demonstration if you are unsure.
