Unstable angina is also called crescendo angina. It is angina which is rapidly becoming more frequent and more severe. It occurs at rest as well as with exercise.

Since this type of angina can quickly progress to a heart attack, a patient would be admitted to hospital and the situation would be treated as an emergency.
