Asthma - Health tips
Centrum tip – Get a grip on asthma
Last updated: Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Do you suffer from asthma? Then beware of common indoor allergens such as house dust mites, feathers, cockroaches, and animal dander. According to the Merck Manual of Medical Information, anything that can be done to reduce exposure to these allergens may reduce the number or severity of asthma attacks.

Take action:
Remove wall-to-wall carpets; use air conditioning to keep the humidity in your home relatively low (preferably below 50%) in summer; use special pillow and mattress covers to reduce exposure to dust mites; remove cats and dogs to decrease exposure to animal dander; avoid irritating fumes such as cigarette smoke; wear a ski mask or scarf that covers the nose and mouth when exercising outdoors; avoid aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as tartrazine or sulfites in food and beverages, if these have triggered attacks before.

WIN your very own Merck Manual – packed with interesting health info.
