HIV/Aids: Without controlling the spread of HIV which makes people much more susceptible, TB will be difficult to beat. HIV transmission is mostly prevented by abstinence or safer sex.

The large number of infectious people: Those with TB who remain undiagnosed infect others unnecessarily. People should be aware of the symptoms so they can seek help early in the disease and be treated.

Between 15 and 30 % of patients do not complete their treatment and many remain infectious. The National target is to cure 85 % of new infectious patients.
