Stress - Stress management
Walk away from stress
Created: Thursday, August 28, 2003

Go for a half-hour walk three times a week. Getting out into the fresh air and away from your stressors will give you an opportunity to clear your mind. Plus it’s good exercise! If you live near the sea, take a stroll along the beach front, if you don’t, find a school field or a park in which you can walk safely. Even a walk around the block or into town during your lunch hour are great stress relievers.

A daily walk will distress you and will lead to better sleep. Walking can also lower blood pressure, burn fat, increase the efficiency of your heart and lungs, improve bone density and can lower the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Walk fast enough so that you work up a sweat. When you start sweating, you'll know that your body is getting enough aerobic activity to improve your cardio-vascular fitness. A good, long walk will get your circulation going and will give you a chance to clear your mind from stressful thoughts.
