Use warm water to rinse your mouth thoroughly. Remove any bits of food wedged between your teeth with dental floss. If your mouth or cheek is swollen, apply a cold compress on the outside of your cheek and visit your dentist as soon as possible.

Never put aspirin on the inflamed area since the acid of the aspirin will burn the gum and cheek. The alcohol in spirits (whisky and brandy) will also burn the tissue. See a dentist as soon as you can.
