Do not clean the tooth - just keep it moist. Never touch the root of the tooth. This is covered by a very sensitive membrane that is needed if the tooth is to be replaced in the mouth.

If the tooth is a baby tooth (known as a primary tooth), it may not need to be replaced in the socket if the child is at a certain age. Your dentist will decide if it is necessary to replace the tooth
