Share your anxiety with your dentist – knowing about your feelings will help him or her to adapt treatment to your needs; schedule your dental visit when you're less likely to be rushed or under pressure – for example, book an appointment for early in the morning or on a Saturday; bring along a portable CD or MP3 player and headset – listening to your favourite music can help soothe you, as well as drown out the sound of the dental drill; try visualising yourself in a pleasant setting, such as relaxing in a hammock under a tree.
