Take action:
Watch out for early warning signs, like bad breath and gums that bleed when you floss. Consult your dentist if you notice that your gums are swollen, red, or tender, or that your teeth feel loose. Meanwhile, don't forget to floss and brush your teeth after every meal using a fluoride toothpaste. And quit smoking.
