Take action:
Clean your baby's teeth by running a wet washcloth around his/her mouth even before the first tooth comes in – get the child used to the idea that manipulation of the mouth is part of the cleaning routine; brush your child's teeth from the minute the first tooth makes its appearance; use a child-sized toothbrush and a little water; clean your child's teeth on a couch or bed if it helps to settle him/her down; sing a song or count to help keep him/her distracted; and flossing should begin when two of the child's teeth begin to touch.
