Osteoporosis - FAQ
Is exercise good for me if I have osteoporosis?
Last updated: Monday, October 23, 2006
Many people are sacred that exercise will increase their risk of bone fractures. The contrary is actually true, as physical activity actually maintains bone mass.

Immobilisation increases the rate of loss of bone mass. Back-strengthening exercises are important, as they can prevent the postural deformity that is typical of osteoporosis. It is recommended that you ask your doctor about appropriate weight-bearing exercises and not embark on your own programme without professional advice and input.
