A real medical scheme
Last updated: Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Our work ethic is pure and simple: it is to provide real medical aid, time after time.

Real Value
At Fedhealth we focus only on core business, and that is to provide real benefits at affordable rates. To substantiate this, an independent brokerage house appraised Fedhealth for providing value for money through the range of options offered.

Better Options
From hospitals plans majoring on unlimited hospital cover to comprehensive options covering members with high-cost conditions at 100% for a range of possible claims, Fedhealth provides options that are designed to satisfy members’ individual requirements. Across our wide range of options, we offer:

  • Unlimited private hospital cover
  • Cover for more than 56 chronic conditions including HIV/AIDS
  • Various levels of day-to-day cover linked to different options.

Unsurpassed Benefits
We take benefits further by offering the following unique benefits to our members:

  • Child rates for dependants up to 27 years of age – this could result in a saving of up to R7 008 a year per dependant on premiums.
  • Specialised radiology like MRI and CT scans are covered from the In-Hospital Benefit and not from savings - allowing the member more flexibility when it comes to day-to-day medical expenses.
  • Treatments related to a hospital event (for example physiotherapy) are covered from the In-Hospital Benefit for up to 30 days after discharge from hospital. Other schemes deduct these out-of-hospital treatments from the member’s savings.
  • More than 60 procedures that can be performed in a day ward or a doctor’s consulting rooms are covered from the In-Hospital Benefit and not savings.
  • Monthly prescriptions for oral contraceptives will also be paid from the In-Hospital Benefit and not from the member’s savings.
  • On diagnosis of a dread disease or any of the 56 chronic conditions covered by the scheme, Fedhealth will allow an upgrade to a higher option any time during the year to ensure that members are covered sufficiently for the specific treatment. Other medical schemes only allow option ugrades at the beginning of every year.

Tailored Service
Fedhealth members are our priority and we see to it that they receive the service they deserve. Fedhealth has a friendly and efficient member call centre that is measured regularly on performance, in order to maintain the high standards set. State of the art electronic communication systems are also in place, to allow our members to receive claim and benefit updates via SMS and e-mail.

Fedhealth also provides these services to organisations belonging to the scheme:

  • GIT – Group Implementation and Training for each new organisation joining the scheme, thus ensuring a smooth transition.
  • A dedicated Client Liaison Officer (CLO) is allocated to each organisation with 35 or more members. Regular visits take place and the CLO is able to solve queries on-line for all staff.
  • A dedicated credit control person is allocated to each company.
