Take action:
Avoid eating certain foods, such as cheese, chocolate, soya sauce, yeast extracts, certain citrus fruits and foods that contain artificial colourants or monosodium glutomate; steer clear of alcohol, especially red wine; check when attacks occur – if it is during your premenstrual phase, check with your gynaecologist whether you might have to change the pill you're on; get regular sleep and find a de-stressing technique that works for you; missing out on your regular cup of tea or coffee could trigger an attack; get a painkiller from your doctor rather than dosing yourself with over-the-counter medication – and have your blood pressure checked while you're there; avoid bright or flickering lights, as these are known to trigger attacks in certain people.
