Cholera is present in many countries. New outbreaks can occur periodically in any part of the world where water supplies, sanitation, food safety and hygiene practices are inadequate. Overpopulated communities with poor sanitation and unsafe drinking water supplies are most frequently affected. For information on whether there is cholera in the area in which you will be traveling contact your public health office.
