Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OKCupid – these are just some of the most popular dating apps around which many of us have used to varying degrees of success.

But swiping right and left can become a bit tedious after a while, especially when you’ve had a string of okayish first dates, failed relationships and many talking stages that went nowhere. You might experience feeling frustrated by the process, become despondent about dating, and end up deleting all the apps before downloading them all again in a vicious cycle of dating burnout.

But there is a way to find love online and beat the burnout. We spoke to The Relationship Architect, Shelley Lewin, a Cape Town-based relationship counsellor, coach and author of Uncomplicated Love and asked for her advice on dating app burnout, how to recognise it and how to get over it.
