 Procedures
In some cases, medical procedures are necessary to aid birth. Your doctor might recommend induction of labour to accelerate labour if the contractions are weak and progress is slow.

Forceps or instrumental vaginal delivery might be indicated if the mother is unable to push forcefully enough or if the baby is premature.
