Courses can range anything from R800 to R1 600 each. Then, you will also need to purchase diving equipment. Basic equipment ranges from about R1 500 to R3 000.

And that's not the end of the expenses divers rack up. There are additional costs you’ll need to pay with regards to obtaining memberships, diving permits and, in some cases, dive boat charters. In order to gain access to the underwater world legally, it is vital to have a dive permit.
