Julie Richardson, a 14-year-old girl from Brondal, Nelspruit has been dreaming of entering the eight-mile swimming events at Midmar for the last two years. The events takes place the weekend of the 10th – 11th February.

To enable her to do this, she has joined the Game R1-million charity challenge to help raise funds for a worthy cause.
25 swimmers will be allowed to swim all eight events on the programme in order to raise funds for charity and the Game Community Chest drive. The swimmers’ main goal is to raise R20 000 or more each. Game will provide the incentives for the top swimmers.
The money raised will be donated to various charities including learn-to-swim programmes and development programmes for underprivileged communities.

Companies can also get involved by sponsoring a swimmer through the Midmar Mile office. Swimmers and company sponsors will receive commemorative plaques as mementoes as well as a special edition Midmar medal for 2007.
