| SHOULDER |
| Falls on slippery fields or collisions with other players can result in shoulder injuries.
Dislocation of the shoulder may cause damage to the surrounding ligaments, which can leave a soccer player prone to future dislocations of the same shoulder.
Common injuries include posterior dislocation of the shoulder, impingement syndrome, chronic instability of the shoulder following dislocation, shoulder bursitis and a few other minor problems.
Separation of the acromio-clavicular joint occurs quite frequently. Symptoms include pain at the end of the collarbone and pain when you move the shoulder joint, especially with the arms above the shoulders.
As shoulder injuries can result from weaker muscles in the back, soccer players should focus on strengthening their back muscles.
