01. Rugby skills for 4-5 year olds

02. 6-8 years
Mini Rugby (with rules) is played in the under seven to nine age group. With this age group, more emphasis may be placed on the correct execution of the skills.

03. 9-10 years
Children this age master the basics of the game such as scrums and lineouts. However, the emphasis is very much on enjoyment. Contact must be kept to a minimum.

04. 11-12 years
11- and 12-year-olds play the full 15-man format of the game. Certain regions do not allow boots to be worn until 13. This reduces the possiblity of injury.

By the age of 18, rugby players have acquired all the necessary skills and reached their top speed. The only things that change from 19 onwards are size and strength.

Flexibility becomes a problem and the risk of injury increases after the age of 25, but skills can be maintained and can peak right into the mid-thirties.
