As the cold wet weather begins to set in, so does our desire for all things rich, sweet and tasty. Winter is well-known as the season during which people gain weight due to the fact that ‘comfort’ foods are more enticing this time of the year as well as physical inactivity.

Why not try achieving a lifestyle change this winter?
The Sports Science Institute’s eight-week Healthy Weight Programme, designed in conjunction with the Exercise Science and Sports Medicine Department at the University of Cape Town, is ideal for individuals who are presently inactive or exercising for the first time and who would benefit from group motivation whilst managing their weight.
The approach is simple – to achieve lifestyle change
The programme will take you through a number of phases from greater knowledge and awareness of food choices, to an increase in physical activity and a commitment to changing lifestyle habits.
The programme offers:
Continuing education on strategies for weight loss, weight management and a healthy lifestyle.
A Dietary session to analyse eating habits and prescribe a personalised, healthy eating plan.
Consultation with Biokineticists and Exercise Scientists to prescribe safe and effective exercise.
Input from a Health Psychologist regarding lifestyle choices.
Regular monitoring of progress.
