If your New Year’s resolution is to get fit, then why not try walking, since walking is one of the most accessible and pleasurable ways of getting and staying fit. How about training to walk a distance of 10km in 12 weeks on a very user-friendly programme?

OptiFit Walk and Run Health Programme, run in association with the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA), can help you to achieve this goal. Put your dream in the hands of caring and knowledgeable experts and they will take you session by session on a gradual, scientifically designed 12-week programme (3 sessions per week) with fellow walkers.
On joining, you will attend an introductory workshop at SSISA, receive a training T-shirt, log book, informative notes and a Cape/Tyger Runner discount voucher for walking shoes, as well as having a dietary and fitness assessment.
On completion of the course, your fitness will be re-assessed and the entire group will participate in an official 10km event, after which there will be a celebration and certificates. The course runs in Cape Town from 6 February to 29 April.
For further information and to secure a place on the programme, e-mail kmcquaide@ssisa.com or phone Ashleigh on 073 675 0836 or (021) 659 5631. – (Health24)
