There is no way to run without pushing your rate rate up. And as your heart rate increases, you will get fitter.
Running may take its toll on your ankles and knees if you don't have the correct running posture, but it certainly provides good aerobic and cardiovascular exercise.
There is no doubt about it: if you run by slowly increasing your distance and pace, your fitness levels will reach new heights.
Kick off with three to four sessions per week, at 20 minutes per session, even if you run only for five minutes. |
