Who is the Sport nutritionist?
Vanessa de Jager
Vanessa obtained a B.Sc (Biol Sc) at the Rand Afrikaans University in 1986. After she completed her degree, she worked at Tygerberg’s Medical School for five years in a research capacity and furthered her studies in histology (the study of the human body on cellular level).

Her career evolved working as a medical representative for a pharmaceutical company, and subsequently completing an Aesthecians Qualification. She also worked abroad for Dermalogica as a training and marketing manager.

Upon her return to South Africa, she became the training manager for Lancôme. After this, she worked as a brand manager for the largest direct selling skincare company in South Africa, where she helped formulate their nutrition supplement range.

This position involved extensive training and public presentations for groups as large as 2000 people at a time and achieved an increase in turnover from 5,5 million to 19 million in three years' time.

Vanessa is currently employed by the GLRU (Golden Lions Rugby Union) as their nutritionist and acts as the training manager for EAS (South Africa’s leading sports nutrition company).

She completed her M.Sc in Nutrition (University of Pretoria) in 2007 with her thesis based on the development of a computer-assisted weight management tool for the lay public.
