Who is the pharmacist?
Jaco Lotriet qualified at Potchefstroom University with a B.Pharm. and a M.Sc. in Pharmacology and, although he dislikes taking medicines himself, has a keen interest in their mechanism of action.
He is currently the medical editor of MIMS, the well known monthly drug index for medical professionals. He’s also been writing medical columns for a variety of Sunday papers over the last 7 years and is one of the most experienced medical columnists in South Africa.
After qualifying as a pharmacist, Lotriet has also worked in a variety of fields within the pharmacy profession including retail pharmacy, government and private hospitals, local primary health care clinics, manufacturing, distribution, consulting, academy, research and as information specialist.
It is his wish to promote safe and rational medicine use, and Lotriet hopes to be of assistance to anyone who may have any queries or questions related to medicine, its use, pharmacology or any other related questions that may arise.
