| Glenn de Swardt is a gay rights activist and a professional counsellor specialising in gay, lesbian and bisexual mental health issues. He has a particular interest in sexual health promotion in the gay and lesbian sector, and consults widely on issues related to MSM (men who have sex with men, irrespective of their sexual orientation). He has consulted to UNAIDS in Geneva and IAVI in India and is a consultant to the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation. He has participated in numerous international conferences on diverse MSM dynamics. He regularly publishes articles in the gay press, is a columnist for The Pink Tongue and has participated in numerous research projects addressing gay and lesbian issues. He serves on the boards of Cape Town Pride and the Inner Circle. He is the founder and chairperson on the Pride Shelter Trust, a non-profit organisation establishing a shelter to provide short-term accommodation for gay, lesbian, and transgender people during crisis periods, in Cape Town. From 1999 until 2008 Glenn was the manager of counselling and health services, plus research, at Triangle Project.
