Who is our CyberDoc? Dr Anrich Burger
Dr Anrich Burger is a family physician. Born in Springs and raised in Port Elizabeth, he matriculated from the Framesby High School in 1988, upon which he moved to Stellenbosch where completed his degree in Medicine at the University of Stellenbosch in 1994.
After his studies, Dr Burger worked as a Government Medical Officer at Tygerberg and Conradie Hospitals, respectively, for a period of two years and then joined a private two-man practice in the Strand where he managing primary care situations across the broad spectrum of the medical profession. Dr Burger then went on to work at the Vergelegen Medi-Clinic and began to specialise in trauma.
In order to gain experience in this field, he did a 9-month locum as a General Practitioner in Dawson Creek, BC, Canada, where his duties included working as a family physician and doing on-call duty at the Dawson Creek State Hospital, usually for a 24hr period.
Dr Burger then went on to work in both the Emergency Assessment Unit and the Short-Stay Ward at the Good Hope Hospital, West Midlands, in England, for a period of six months.
He was involved in his two-man practice in the Strand until five years ago, when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident and was diagnosed as a quadriplegic. Unfortunately, he had to sell the practice and is now working from home.
Dr Burger’s passions are nature and helping people. His endeavour is to provide care and assistance of excellent quality at all times.
Dr Bets Breedt is a Family Physician, who completed first a BMed Sci and then a MBCHB degree at the University of Pretoria and completed her practical training in Bethlehem in the Free State.
After completing her medical degree, Dr Breedt worked at a private practice in Ficksburg for two years where she also did some work as district surgeon.
In 1989, Dr Breedt moved back to Pretoria where she worked as a Senior Medical Officer at Pretoria West Hospital for 4 years and at 1 Military hospital as Departmental Head of the Polyclinic and Hospice for 10 years. She obtained her Masters degree in Family Medicine in 2001, and since September 2001 she has been working in the Clinical Research Industry and is currently the Director Site Management for an international Clinical Research Organization.
Dr Breedt has written articles for South African Family Practice and Pols Huisgenoot, and has been involved in training of Primary Health Care Nurses, Clinical Research Associates, Study Site Coordinators, and Investigators in South Africa. She is a member of the South African Association of Pharmaceutical Physicians and the South African Clinical Research Association.
Dr Breedt feels passionate about patient care and enjoys learning about new developments in medicine and training people to become better health workers.
