Calculating your waist to hip ratio is
a simple measure to determine if you are overweight. WHR is a good
indicator of your body shape for men and women. A high WHR (>
0,85 for women; > 1,0 for men) indicates an apple-shaped or barrel-shaped
figure, with a non-existing waistline and a higher risk for heart
disease. (Waist circumference for a woman should not exceed 88 cm
and for a man not 102 cm.)
| A healthy waist hip ration for men
is considered to be below 0.9. Borderline cases are between
0.9 and 1 but above 1 is considered to be unhealthy. |
| A healthy waist hip ration for women
is considered to be below 0.8. Borderline cases are between
0.8 and 0.85 but above 0.85 is considered to be unhealthy. |
