Weigh-Less will host the National Man of the Year event competition, which is set to take place from 23-26 May 2006 with the winner being announced at a gala function on May 25, 2006.

Over the last three decades, Weigh-Less has offered South Africans of all ages, sexes and cultures a solution to their health and weight problems.

The Weigh-Less Man of the Year title will be awarded to one outstanding male who reflects the successful heritage of Weigh-Less' past 31 years, and who epitomises health and vitality.

Statistics show that South African men are becoming increasingly aware of their health and appearance with each passing year. Not only are they losing excess weight, they are also opting for a healthier lifestyle.

The seven finalists for the Weigh-Less Man of the Year competition come from diverse age groups and professions. Their one common link is their enviable achievement of losing their excess weight, attaining good health and wellness and realising hidden hopes and dreams.

The finalists are:

• Leon Steyl – 45 years (lost 34kg)
• Lourens Nolte – 31 years (lost 12,8 kg)
• Hannes Mynhart – 48 years (lost 47,60kg)
• Craig Truter – 42 years (lost 37kg)
• Glen Schroder – 35 years (lost 16,6kg)
• Alexis Koumbrarakis – 23 years (lost 16,4kg)
• Hentie Swart – 43 years (lost 61kg)
