Gina Stear (BSc. Dietetics, Stellenbosch) is a dietician in private practice with a special interest in women and children’s nutrition.
Gina is presently completing a Masters in Nutrition through the University of Stellenbosch, with a special focus on paediatric nutrition and allergies.

She has presented at three international congresses regarding nutrition in allergies and paediatrics; is invited to speak to dieticians and at various nutrition education workshops to parents and health professionals; lectures to dietetics and medical students in the field of paediatric nutrition, allergies and intolerances; and writes an educational review sent to over 4 000 health professionals worldwide.
She has co-written two publications in medical journals; and contributed to a number of commercial children’s magazines on nutrition-related topics.
Gina previously worked in the Nutrition Unit (Child and Maternal Health) of the UK Department of Health as a nutrition advisor and consultant.
She participated in the National Food Consumption Survey of children 1-9 years of age in South Africa (1999) and worked at Tygerberg Hospital as a clinical dietician for both adults and paediatrics.
She was senior therapeutic dietician at Red Cross Children’s Hospital, Cape Town. Areas of input included ICU, allergy, liver and GIT disorders, burn injury, surgery and malnutrition (over and undernutrition).
