Take action:
Ask for low-fat dressings; order your sauces or gravies on the side; choose tomato or barbeque sauce instead of mayonnaise or cheese sauces; order tea, coffee, low-fat milk or mineral water instead of fizzy drinks, juice or milkshakes; alternate wine with water; choose baked potatoes (without the sour cream) over fries – or, better still, go for veggies or side salads; choose fish or chicken instead of red meat; split portions with your dining companion; ignore the bread until the meal is actually served; and skip dessert altogether (rather go for a starter and main meal).
