Gone are the days of banning sugar from the diet if you're diabetic. While your intake should still be carefully monitored, experts now know that small amounts of sugar can be tolerated.
Take action:
You may use sucrose and small quantities of fructose to make foods and beverages more palatable if these form part of a diet that has been worked out specifically for your circumstances by a dietician. Fructose, or "fruit sugar", can be found in fruits, honey and in a commercially-produced powder form, while sucrose is just normal "table sugar". Instead of focusing on sugar intake, concentrate on eating low-GI foods instead.
