Rye Grass is a very common foraging grass in Europe, which is also found in the southern, eastern and northern parts of South Africa. Rye Grass is often blended in lawn seed mixtures.

Rye grass has a shorter pollen season in South Africa than many of the other grasses which flower throughout the summer. Its pollen season is from September to November.
