Goosefoot is an erect, annual herb which varies much in size. It is found just about everywhere, from rubbish tips to cultivated land. Goosefoot was the first vegetation to appear on bombing sites in London during the Second World War.
Goosefoot tolerates salty soils, and therefore play a role in coastal flora and in the Karoo.
In South Africa, goosefoot flowers in spring and summer.
