Meadow grass is a tuft-forming perennial which is often cultivated for animal feed. It is often found in suburban lawns. It is mostly found in cold and temperate climates. It is found throughout Southern Africa.

In South Africa it flowers in August and September.

Meadow grass is a major pollen producer.
