During the next visit, Liezl had a lot to report. The second day after the hearing-aid fitting, Denise started responding to sounds in her home environment. She listened attentively to another baby crying and had a startled reaction to a loud sound – things she has never done before.

She even responded to her mom’s voice when she talked behind her by turning around to face her. According to her family, she starts looking around to try and locate the voice of the speaker in conversations.
Liezl was worried at some point, as Denise started taking the one hearing aid out. Initially, we were worried that the sound may be too loud, or that the earmould was hurting her.
However, we soon realised it was just a new game. She is at the age where everything is explored by putting it in her mouth, and the hearing aids had to be rescued a few times!
Luckily, she doesn’t complain or cry when they are put back in, which indicates that the volume and fit is still comfortable.
