From Blueprint Health South Africa:
At Blueprint Health we focus on the avoidance or management of lifestyle factors leading
to early onset aging and disease. Conditions like diabetes, obesity, heart disease and
stroke contribute to up to 60% of patient care in general practice. We also know that
up to 90% of first heart attacks can actually be prevented by managing the underlying
lifestyle-related risk factors. Access to genetic testing now allows us to assess these
potential risks early on (particularly in persons with a family history) and thus manage
our lifestyle accordingly.
Blueprint Health utilizes a multidisciplinary team to support the growing number of
individuals and businesses that realise the benefits of early intervention and pro-active
management to maintain health and achieve longevity. Programmes are offered at the
Lanzerac Spa and Wellness Centre, thus making it the first leisure destination in South
Africa with full health and wellness amenities based on nutrigenomics – the science
that allows for a truly individualised health management plan based on our genetic
tendencies to develop disease.
Medical, nutritional and physical fitness asessments are integrated with coaching programmes
into a holistic plan where personal health goals can be reached while being
guided by a team of health coaches. As existing corporate wellness programmes in
the workplace are often fragmented, this service can effectively be integrated through
the available software, allowing for a more streamlined and cost-effective approach to
corporate health and productivity.
What you don't know might cost you your quality of life
Yes, heart disease and strokes are still major causes of disability and premature death. And
your genes may actually carry part of the problem – but also the answer. Conditions such
as heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes can often be attributed
to our Western lifestyle – obesity, too little exercise, smoking, stress – rather than our family
history.
At Blueprint Health we believe in preventive care. Why accept that you may suffer a debilitating
heart attack or stroke like your parents, when changing your lifestyle can minimise the effect
that your genes have on your health? By taking action now in changing your lifestyle, you
will be bringing wellness into your own and your family’s life. It could be the best investment
you ever make!
Lifestyle Intervention
Blueprint Health offers a practical solution to managing your health risks – a lifestyle
intervention programme that touches all aspects of your life. If heart disease, diabetes or
high blood pressure are in your genes, you will benefit from our multi-disciplinary approach
that empowers you to take the necessary steps to minimise the risks of potential disease.
We will draw up a programme to meet your needs and put you in touch with the right health
experts such as nutritionists, exercise specialists or psychologists. With clear goals in mind
and the motivation you need, you will soon be on the road to future health, happiness and
a balanced lifestyle. In fact, this programme will not only benefit you – by adopting healthy
habits you will be raising a healthy family too.
Risk profiling A simple blood sample is all you need to find out whether your genes predispose you to a
heart attack, diabetes or stroke. Your risk profile is determined by combining the genetic
screening with a physical examination and biochemical assay. The good news is that, if at
risk, you can do something about it. Taking control of your health and your lifestyle could
mean the difference between disability and future health. Isn’t that enough motivation to find
out what your risk profile is?
Invest in yourself
Your future health and happiness depends on the action you take today to ensure a
healthy and balanced lifestyle.
You never know how genetic risk factors can potentially affect your state of health. Why
not take advantage of Blueprint Health’s lifestyle intervention programme to provide you
with the practical solutions and support you need to invest in your future health? See it
as your commitment to wellness and well-being, for both you and your family.
