This week has been so busy!
School holidays are my absolute best, I think I enjoy them more than the kids do - just being at home and not having to run after everyone all the time. Then the holidays were over and I had to attend a prize-giving event at my old school in OUDTSHOORN. Many of you may think of Oudtshoorn as the town of ostriches and caves, (or the KKNK fees), but I grew up in this wonderful place. It is a town of extremes - either boiling hot or freezing cold, but the people are just so hospitable.
I was on the school stage to hand over awards, and, as I watched them announce the headboy and headgirl, it felt like I had never left the school, even though it’s 27 years later! Wow, time moves so fast!
One thing is for sure, when I had to address the students and parents from the stage, I felt the same butterflies as I did when I was a young girl. Memories.
I had my two children with me and our stay was very well organised! We'd scheduled to see all the tourist attractions Oudtshoorn has to offer, but lo and behold, both the kids got sick and we basically spent both days in the La Plume guest house. The staff at La Plume are wonderful and we were never short of anything. This means we are planning another visit to Oudtshoorn in December. Aqua Bimini did very well on the long trip and through hot days of Oudshoorn - keeping my thirst away.
Regarding breast cancer, I gave another talk to the ladies in Oudtshoorn. These local ladies are so talented – they decorated a convention room beautifully for us, and the eats and savouries were delicious!
When last did you take a drive down the R62, the road from CT to Oudtshoorn via Worcester, Robertson, Ashton, Montagu, Barrydale, Ladysmith and Calitzdorp? We got to see all the fruit trees in blossom, what a creation – Spring is in the air!
