Stuck in the middle seat

It seems that I have some catching up to do!

I’ve been out of the country for most of June and have just returned from Europe - my latest bookings were in Germany and Provence.

I left for Frankfurt about 2 weeks ago. The flight was nightmarish as I unfortunately ended up in a middle seat. There was no other option since the flight was over booked, and I had to twist my six foot frame into a baby chair! I arrived in Frankfurt bleary eyed and in excruciating pain.

A driver picked me up from the airport and took me to the hotel, about an hour and a half’s drive away. Normally I would arrive at the hotel, take a quick shower and then go and explore the city, but in this case I was just too exhausted, and spent the rest of the day curled up under the duvet, feeling sorry for myself.

I did manage to wander out of the hotel later that evening and found a cute bistro where I chatted with the locals. It lifted my spirits and, by the time I left, I was ready to face my client the next day!

I worked with a lovely team that I’ve known for 10 years and we all had a good laugh about my plane predicament. The booking took place in a studio and finished early enough for me to go shopping in the little German town. Walking around gave my legs the necessary exercise and also relieved the aches and pains.

I picked up some sushi for the dinner at the photographer’s home since they were making pasta that evening - the same photographer has booked my beach villa in November for his holiday. You can see it on the website www.kiaora.co.za

I’ll update you on the details of my trip to France in my next blog!
