From bug-chasing to denial
Bug-chasers actively seek out HIV infection. And some others simply live in denial.

Big brother and a braai in France

Hello there! I am back from a two-week modelling trip to Europe. But my bags are packed again for my return there on Sunday!

I hope that this time I will not have to pass the emergency room on my way to the airport. I cut my foot badly last time, and had to get stitches. They’ve healed well, though.

The first client I worked for was in London, but we were shooting on location outside the city which meant getting up at 5am and catching a train up to Potter’s Bar, where the client had booked a stunning house for the shoot. The biggest problem for me was that there was no central heating – and I was modelling summer evening clothes! I picked up a really bad cold.

I had two days off before my next job, and spent most of that time in Harvey Nicks and Harrods. I got a lot of exercise walking through parks and searching for interesting shops.

For my next job, a car picked me up at 3.30am to take me to Gatwick airport. I went to Marseille in the south of France and stayed with the team in a beautiful French chateau. It felt like a Big Brother house, very personal when you don’t know the people well, but we all got on wonderfully. We had a chef cooking all our meals and she took extra care that I always had some form of seafood; and we even had a braai one night. Every evening after work I went for a jog in the hills. At the end of my trip the whole team was doing some form of exercise – well, we had to with all that wonderful food!

My next trip will be to Hamburg in Germany.

It’s been a stressful time: I don’t have much time between travelling to take care of my other businesses. I had to organise a team of workers to freshen up Kia Ora, my beach villa. Everything has to get washed, painted, scrubbed and fixed to welcome my guests for the next season.

I have a two-month winter booking that I am looking forward too!
