From bug-chasing to denial
Bug-chasers actively seek out HIV infection. And some others simply live in denial.
Modern miracles
Aspirin, contraceptives, e-mail, soap, dentists. 200 years ago none of these existed.

Mind over matter

I feel like I have been on a very long holiday! After my birthday party everything seems to have come to a halt!

It was my first party in 14 years since I have always been away on trips for my birthday! And I was spoiled rotten by my friends and family! It took 3 days to organize and send out invitations. I had a wonderful DJ from Cabana. We removed all the living room furniture and filled the space with balloons that floated above our heads. Rhapsody’s did some of the catering and there was enough sushi to feed an army or so I thought! Not a crumb was left over.

I have been sleeping very well and feeling more relaxed than ever. Even the offer from foreigners to rent my home for a year did not faze me. It turned out that they needed a safer home for their young children but it was touch and go that I had to move out in 2 days!

People questioned my motives for wanting to leave a house that I had just finished renovating, and finally have been able to take my belongings out of storage after 5 years, but the gypsy in me is always ready for a new adventure!

I have also had time to look after myself a bit more and have my knee checked out. I slipped on a wet tile at the end of January and since then have been in a lot of pain. My motto of mind over matter did not seem to resolve the problem and I went to see a specialist. After x-rays and 20 minutes in some kind of tunnel the verdict is good. No operation needed since it is the ligaments that got hurt but I need physiotherapy.

So this week has been a lot more me time and I have enjoyed every second of it!
Yesterday I spent the day in Hermanus with my friends and my parents and we took my grandmother out for dinner. I had to celebrate a contract for 2 months that I signed for Kia Ora, my beach house. It is an American family that will stay during the winter months - usually the slow time for guest houses.

I am also seriously considering hiring a personal cook since my domestic skills are so rusted and I have no desire to cook for myself!!! Mr Delivery has been long enough number one on my speed dial!

Soon I will have to leave the country again, working in London and the south of France next!
